Who we are

We meet every Veteran where they are.

Advocacy for Humanity is a Michigan nonprofit serving Veterans from Detroit, Michigan and Dallas, Texas. We are on the ground, connecting every Veteran to a home, steady ground, a community, skills, and something of their own.

The Continuum of Life

One journey. Five levels. Common sense.

Here's the idea, and it's simple. A Veteran can't build a business while sleeping in a car. They can't hold down a job while they don't know where they'll sleep. So we don't hand everybody the same thing — we meet each Veteran at the level they're actually living, and we help them climb.

A home first. Then steady ground — benefits, credit, income that covers the month. Then a community that knows their name. Then skills and the pride that comes with them. And finally, something of their own — a business, a stake, a vote.

We call it the Continuum of Life. Five levels, and the right help at every one. We don't skip a rung, and we don't stop at the first win.

Founded in Detroit. Built for Veterans.

The connector he wished existed.

Advocacy for Humanity was founded by Gregory Harris Sr. He saw Veterans handed one thing — a job board, a voucher, a phone line — when what they needed was a ladder. So he built the connector he wished existed: one organization that meets a Veteran at any level of life and walks the whole journey with them.

We are the connector, not the program. We don't replace the people already doing this work — we bring them together. Homes get built, credit gets repaired, skills get taught, and capital gets reached by partner organizations, VFW halls, and Veteran-owned businesses who do that work every day. We make sure a Veteran finds the right one at the right level of their life.

And we make the whole network stronger. We help Veterans organizations raise money — grants we pursue together, fundraisers at partner venues — and we give each one a web presence that's found on Google, built and handled for them, so their energy stays on Veterans, not websites.

The platform behind the work is backed by Business Technology Management, so our energy goes to Veterans, not infrastructure.

Two cities. One front line.

We started where the need is —
and where the community already is.

Real neighborhoods, real halls, real Veterans. We're built to serve this community for generations, not for a campaign season.
